The Great Backyard Bird Count 2018…we’re participating!

Three house sparrows identified during our GBBC 2018

The Great Backyard Bird Count of 2018 (GBBC) is taking place from February 16, 2018 to February 19, 2018. We’re participating in the GBBC as we watch and count birds visiting our bird feeders. We’re also documenting the time of day for bird watching, the length of time for our bird watching (i.e., at least 30 minutes at a time), the temperature outside, the weather conditions (i.e., overcast and drizzling) and videos or photos we take of the birds that visit our feeder. We’ll then enter our data into the Project FeederWatch database to help scientists track bird populations and migration patterns. You can participate in this citizen science project too by creating an account with The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and submitting your findings. We identified the bird species in our feeder using the Merlin ID app. How cool is that?
